It’s June and we’re very excited to be celebrating Pride month. Our LGBT+ staff and customers are an important part of our community. We recognize that as a society, we still have a very long way to go until equality for all is achieved. However, we also encourage and support the power of inclusion so that we can build the future we want to see; one where equality reigns.

Pride month is an important reminder of the struggles the LGBT+ community has faced in achieving the respect and fair treatment that we all deserve. We celebrate this in June, in particular, to commemorate the Stonewall riots in New York City in 1969. This uprising, led by courageous members of the LGBT+ community, was a direct catalyst that created widespread change in the legal system, starting the journey towards more inclusive rights for LGBT+ people across the USA that we are still on today.

At Look Natural Hair Restoration, we work with patients of all orientations and identifications on the broad spectrums of gender and sexual identity. We were excited that we were able to attend the New York Coming Out transgender conference in October last year, celebrating and supporting the community. We attend events like this in order to develop our knowledge and continuously support the LGBT+ members of our community.

Beyond that, we are proud that our work supports many of our customers in achieving a look that closely aligns with their gender identity. Here are a few ways that we help, particularly people who may be transgender or non-binary:

  • Hairlines: Hairlines are a key element of framing your face. No matter where you’re starting from, our work creates full, feminine hairlines if desired or sharp, masculine hairlines.
  • Eyebrows: Eyebrows are often very gendered in terms of how they present, and so using specialized techniques, we look to create a softer, arched brow that is associated with more feminine characteristics or a fuller, more linear and low-set brow for a more masculine effect.
  • Facial Hair: For transgender men, hormone therapy can lead to fantastic, full beards. However, if you’re looking for more density in the sideburns, moustache or beard, that’s something we can offer.

We provide these options all year round as part of our suite of diverse services. We continuously strive to improve our service and provide high-quality, luxurious care to our clients.

Most importantly, we are committed to treating our LGBT+ staff and customers fairly and equally, no matter the month of the year. Happy Pride!
